Abstract

The Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve has a predominantly flat terrain, interspersed with low hills, sand dunes, and coastal lakes, which creates a diverse range of animal, plant species, and landscapes. The field surveys conducted in March and July 2024 recorded 10 species of large centipedes, including Alluropus calcaratus, Asanada brevicornis, Cryptops (Cryptops) spinipes, Emostigmus rubripes platycephalus, Otostigmus astenus, Otostigmus multidens, Otostigmus politus, Scolopendra dehaani, Scolopendra morsitans, and Scolopendra subspinipes. Among them, nine species are new records for the fauna of Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu, and one species (Scolopendra morsitans) had been recorded previously. This paper provides a species list of large centipedes, information on the specimens, diagnostic characteristics of the species, and their distribution in Vietnam as well as globally.
